Dilley Wins NASCAR Canada Race At Cayuga
HAMILTON, Ont., Canada (Sept. 4, 2008) – Mark Dilley won the race, Andrew Ranger finished second and now Scott Steckly has a problem.
Dilley won the Coke Zero 300 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race at Cayuga Motor Speedway. Dilley led 80 of the 203-lap, 300-kilometer chase around the .625-mile oval. Ranger’s strong finish gave Steckly, the championship leader, a smaller cushion in the standings.
Steckly finished 18th and lost ground to Ranger in the title hunt. Steckly now leads Ranger 1,639 to 1,571.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Canadian Tire Series. The Series has long been Canada’s most prestigious stock car racing program and Goodyear has been part of the story for much of that time.
The bias-ply tires Goodyear supplies for each race in the series come from the same line of tires used by NASCAR’s Camping World Series East and West tours. That means Goodyear supplies the tires for the sanctioning body’s top developmental programs, as well as for the three national series, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
There were 22 cars in the starting field at Cayuga and 20 were running at the end of the race. The winner averaged 69.562 mph and his victory margin was .737 of a second.
Dilley’s win was his second this season. Ranger was second, followed by Derek Lynch, Jason Hathaway and Ron Beauchamp Jr. Hathaway started last in the field.
