Goodyear NASCAR Diversity Program

NASCAR Diversity ProgramRacing has been a large part of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for more than 100 years. As the Official Tire of NASCAR, Goodyear is the sole supplier to all three major racing series: Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Craftsman Truck.

Goodyear’s commitment to NASCAR extends beyond the track with its Goodyear Racing & Diversity Program. This multi-phased program exposes diverse high school students to the exciting world of NASCAR and its career opportunities. Currently, the program is running in six areas: Atlanta, GA, Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX, Daytona, FL, Detroit, MI, Dover, DE, and Los Angeles, CA.

About the Program

The driver and pit crew are just a small part of the career opportunities within NASCAR. This program is designed to encourage students who are interested in the motorsports industry to further their education in a related business or technical field and pursue a career related to this great sport.

By providing an insider’s view of Goodyear Racing and NASCAR, students have the opportunity to experience what it takes to work in this sport. Program participants interact with professionals from Goodyear, NASCAR, and its related companies. Throughout the experience, they are exposed to the wide variety of careers related to NASCAR, including areas such as engineering, operations, marketing, media relations, sales and broadcasting.

The Program Phases:


PHASE1: Race Day Experience

  • Tours of Goodyear track operations, garage & pit areas, tour of marketing & media activities, etc.
  • Meetings with NASCAR teams (drivers, crews, owners, etc) as possible
  • Experience the race from the Grandstands or a suite

PHASE 2: Event Weekend Internship

  • Multiple day internship during a NASCAR race weekend
  • Job-shadowing of industry personnel matched to the student’s area of interest
  • Mentor sessions with teams, track management, pit crews, media relations, marketing as schedule permits

PHASE 3: Scholarships

  • Opportunity to apply for Goodyear-funded scholarships to pursue post-high school education
  • $38,000 available in scholarship awards

PHASE 4: Summer Internship

  • Students who are selected for Phase 2 can apply for an 8 week paid summer internship while attending college or technical school
